Time in Coral Bay

Monday-It's still really dark but my parents are already up and dressed. We leave for Coral Bay today so we need to get up really early. We are about to drive for 7 hours.

The caravan park might not look that exciting, but the ocean is AMAZING! There is so much coral and fish it feels almost unreal. The fish are SO bright and the water is actually quite warm. We went snorkeling and saw fantastic types of fish and coral. I can't wait to get in tomorrow and take pictures of it all.

Tuesday- it was just like yesterday; we swam for half the day and paddled in the shallows. While we were swimming, I was using my flippers for the first time but I found it quite hard to move my legs slowly, so I swam back to shore and sat in the sun to dry.

Later, as I was swimming in the shallows, I nearly swam right over a sand colored sting ray. I backed away in fright. It must have changed it's course because I then, nearly trod on the tail of what I think was the same one...or maybe there were more!

We then went to a point where you are supposed to be able to see baby sharks but all that was there was a big flock of seagulls! We spent some time chasing them around before sitting in the ocean and relaxing. What a lovely day.

Wednesday- we went to the beach, but not to swim where we usually would. We caught a bus to get here and we are about to board a boat to snorkel further out.

***********

The water looks lovely and cool. I am very happy we anchored here as there is so much coral. As soon as I looked under the water, I am surprised to see so many fish. I had never see so many in my life.

After a what seemed like only minutes, we were back on the boat again and heading out even deeper. This time Patrick didn't want to go back in. I saw a Manta ray and even a turtle.

On our way home, the boom net was let out into the water and all five of us climbed on. Then the driver sped up and we were dragged along behind. It was fantastic fun.

Thursday- we travelled to Exmouth. Half way there, my dad suddenly slowed the car right down. The reason for this was there was sheep on the road and we were about to run them over.

We went to the bakery there where I bought a jam donut, Patrick and Dad each had a vanilla slice, Daniel got a lamington and Mum got a jam tart.

Back at Coral Bay, Dad and I went off together into the water and fed the fish some bread. A very big fish bumped into my arm and it actually hurt! I also saw three orange/brown squid. It freaked me out, but it was an amazing sight.

Underwater delights

We've just arrived in Monkey Mia and it is amazing. The ocean is completely still and crystal clear. I could't wait to jump in. Once we were set up, we pulled our swimmers on and raced down the hill. I was first in. The water was beautiful and cool perfect for a hot day. We played on the two surf boards and paddled through the water. Most of our day was spent at the beach, what a perfect start to our holiday.

The next morning we went to see the dolphins being fed. And I was chosen out of the crowd to feed Nicki! Patrick was very disappointed that he didn't get to feed them too. I was really excited to get this opportunity.

Later in the day we went to the aquarium in Denham. It had eels, turtles, fish and shark feeding. It was awesome.

One sleep to go!

Tic tock, can't the clock go any faster? Only one sleep to go an I just want to go home to bed so that I can wake up, have half a day at school and off we go!

One the road at last! As soon as we got into the car there was a sense of calm. We talked, looked out the window, played electronic devices and watched TV. We drove for 2 1/2 hours! First stop Jurien Bay!

Once parked at Jurien, we spotted something which took over most of our stay for us kids... a bouncy pillow! We spent the whole day on it and had so much fun.
That night I slept in the boys bed(room) and it took me ages to get to sleep but what an awesome start to the holidays.
